Using the unique 16-digit confirmation number received after submitting the entry, you can check the drawing results. The DV-2022 lottery results are available from May 8, 2021. Do not rush to check, as the system is heavily overloaded in the first days. It is better to check the result yourself. Winners will receive information from the Kentucky Consular Center about further steps. You need to carefully follow all instructions and gather documents. What you need to do
- Fill out the electronic DS-260 visa application for all family members. The form is large and contains several points that should be taken into account when filling it out. It must be completed in English. Provide full and truthful personal information about yourself and family members in the form.
- Gather the required set of documents and send them to the KCC for review before the interview. The Consular Center will send information that they have been received and processed. Without this step your interview cannot be scheduled. The documents provided should not require notarization or apostille stamps.
- Pay the consular fee of 330 US dollars.
- Obtain certified translations of the necessary documents into English.
- Undergo a medical examination at medical centers certified by the U.S. Embassy. Its cost is $220 for each family member and is paid at the medical center in hryvnias at the exchange rate on the day of payment. Registration and the following documents are required for the medical examination:
- passport,
- 4 photos sized 50×50,
- vaccination card with clinic stamp,
- immigration case number,
- address of residence in Ukraine and in the USA,
- email address and visa type.
- Attend an interview with a U.S. consul on the appointed date. At this stage you will need all the documents listed, so do not delay their preparation.
The applicant has the right to bring one interpreter to the interview. It is necessary to prepare for the interview very thoughtfully and thoroughly. During the interview the visa officer may ask various questions related both to living in the USA and to what the applicant plans to do in the USA, as well as questions about your DS-260 form.
In most cases at the embassy interview the visa officer will want to ensure that the winner and their family have financial means or sponsors in the USA to successfully adapt and get through the first months. It is very important to provide convincing documents that allow the visa officer to make a positive decision – bank statements confirming the availability of funds for the initial period of stay, sufficient for renting housing, paying transportation and expenses for your family.
After receiving a positive result, your visa will be affixed in the passport within several working days and handed over with the immigration packet, which you must present to the immigration officer when passing passport control.
Do not under any circumstances check the envelope in luggage and do not open it. Also, before crossing the border you must pay a fee of $220 per applicant to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for processing your immigration packet and issuing the Green Card.
