The stages of the process include
Stage 1. Filling out the DS-260 form.
The form is filled out online and submitted electronically to the Kentucky Consular Center.
After submitting the form you should wait for a letter from the KCC requesting scanned copies of documents. After KCC reviews your form and documents – you will be assigned a date and time for the interview. All information will be sent to the email address you provided during registration. You can check the status of the lottery application using your case number. Once KCC approves your win, the status of your application will change.
Stage 2. Preparation of the document package.
Documents must be prepared according to the requirements. Some documents may be submitted as notarized copies, others only as originals.
- educational diploma, school certificate;
- certificate from the employer confirming length of employment;
- birth, marriage, divorce, name change certificates;
- court decisions on divorce or adoption;
- certificates of no criminal record;
- military ID;
- foreign passport and internal passport;
- 2 color photographs;
- medical examination certificate;
- full name, residential address and phone number of your contact person in the U.S.;
- proof of residence at the address specified in the form;
- evidence that you do not plan to live in the U.S. on public assistance. These can be documents about property, bank accounts, a job offer from an American employer, or the I-134 form of financial support from your friend or relative in the U.S.;
- payment of the consular fee for each applicant.
Stage 3. Undergoing the medical examination.
The medical examination can only be done at a specialized clinic. In addition to the examination itself you will need to provide all vaccination records. Therefore, you can already start preparing the documentation confirming your vaccinations.
Stage 4. Attending the interview at the U.S. embassy.
After you have gathered all the documents, you will need to attend an interview. At the interview you must provide all documents that confirm the information filled in the form. You should also confirm sufficient financial means to reside in the U.S. for the initial period.
Stage 5. Payment of the consular fee for each applicant.
After successfully passing the interview and obtaining the diversity visa, you will be able to fly to America, and after crossing the border receive the Green Card.
Stage 6. Receiving the visa and crossing the border, as well as receiving the Green Card itself.
