Type B Transit Visa

A short-term visa is intended for transit passage through the territory of Ukraine. It is issued for no more than 1 year and allows staying in Ukraine for up to 5 days. It can be single-entry or multiple-entry. This type of visa can be extended in case of a forced stop on the territory of Ukraine due to extraordinary circumstances (natural disaster, illness, vehicle repair, etc.) if there is a document confirming the reason and duration of such a forced stop.

Documents required to apply for a transit visa:

  • a document confirming the transit nature of the trip,
  • a license to carry out international transportation,
  • a document confirming the transit nature of cargo transportation.

Short-term Visa C

Arguably the most common visa for businessmen and tourists. It is issued for no more than 5 years and allows staying in Ukraine for 90 days within a six-month period. Extension is possible only in emergency cases: medical treatment, pregnancy, caring for a sick family member, processing an inheritance, performing official duties by a foreign correspondent or representative of a foreign media outlet, etc. All these circumstances must be documented. The extension period is set for the duration of such grounds, but no more than 180 days from the date of the last entry into Ukraine.

The basis for issuing a short-term visa is:

  • an invitation from an organization, bank, or business in the prescribed form,
  • documents confirming the tourist itinerary,
  • an invitation from a private individual.

Long-term Visa D

It is issued for a maximum of 90 days and is intended for processing a residence permit. A significant ground for extension is a delay by the migration service in issuing a permanent or temporary residence permit. Extension is possible for no more than one month.

Each visa type requires preparing a specific package of documents. The applicant must meet the requirements of the immigration law, which are specified for each type of visa to Ukraine.

Visa-free Regime

The visa-free regime applies to a specific list of countries. You can view the list at this link.

The purpose of a trip under the visa-free regime may only be business or tourism, and the period of stay is no more than 90 days within the last 180 days.

You should approach the choice of visa category responsibly. It is very important to know and comply with all legal nuances and requirements to obtain a positive result.
