Registration of a Disability Organization

Persons with certain limitations due to disability belong to a socially vulnerable category of citizens and need assistance in representing and protecting their rights and interests. The registration of a disability association and its further operation is carried out in the procedure provided for public associations in accordance with the Law “On Public Associations”.

Documents for registering a disability organization

A disability organization can be established either with the status of a legal entity or without it. Depending on the chosen option, the list of documents required for registration will differ. In any case, the mandatory documents include an application in the prescribed form and the minutes containing the decision to create the association and its basic information.

We draw your attention to the fact that legislation sets strict requirements for the documents submitted for registration; failure to comply with them results in refusal to register and the need to make corrections.

Procedure for registering a disability association

You must submit a properly prepared package of documents to the local registration authority of the justice department within 60 calendar days from the date of the meeting at which the decision to create the association was made. If this requirement is not met, the association will be considered not created and will have no right to carry out its activities.

Please note that under the new legislation, public associations are granted the right to indicate an all-Ukrainian status in their name, which must subsequently be confirmed annually. To confirm the all-Ukrainian status, a disability association must open its own branches in the majority of the country’s administrative-territorial units.

Additionally, a disability association can obtain non-profit status and enjoy certain tax benefits.
