WES diploma evaluation for immigration to Canada

To immigrate to Canada, it is necessary to fulfill a number of requirements of the Immigration Act. One of these requirements is the confirmation of your diploma or secondary school certificate.

Essentially, an evaluation is a comparison of an educational document obtained in Ukraine with the Canadian one. Through the assessment, they determine what education you would have obtained in Canada. Each country has its own educational standards, and when immigrating the government must understand your level of education. In Canada there are several official organizations authorized to verify your education.

The procedure for confirming education obtained in Ukraine consists of two stages:

1. Confirmation of the diploma at the Information and Image Center.

The Information and Image Center, or ENIC, is an official organization under the Ministry of Education of Ukraine that verifies the authenticity of your education documents, creates a special package for WES and transfers it to you to continue the document evaluation process.

2. Evaluation of the diploma by World Education Services (WES).

Step 1. You need to scan your education documents (diplomas, their supplements, secondary school certificate) in color and save them to your email. The scans will be needed for both ENIC and WES.

Step 2. Access the ENIC website, choose “personal account”, register a profile and create an application for document verification.

Step 3. All education documents and their supplements must be included in one application. For example, first enter the diploma information, then the supplement. If you have two diplomas, enter the details for the first diploma and then for the second.

Step 4. You must upload a scan for each document. If the diploma has multiple pages, upload each page. The diploma itself should be scanned on both sides.

Step 5. After all documents are uploaded, save the application and submit it for processing.

Step 6. After the procedure is completed, you need to wait for a response from the Information and Image Center staff. All correspondence is conducted in the profile, sometimes also duplicated to email.

Step 7. After ENIC staff review your documents, you will be asked to provide akedemic record request forms, completed for each diploma, signed and sent in scanned form.

Step 7. The staff of the Information and Service Center will send you the center’s own forms, which you need to fill out and sign. In the form you will be able to review the cost of the center’s services and which services you will order, as well as the return delivery form. In it you must indicate where to send the forms after the verification procedure.

Step 8. Signed forms should be sent electronically for review to ENIC staff. Then you will receive in your profile a link to pay ENIC’s services via the Portmone payment system. After payment, print the receipt and attach the originals of the diplomas and their supplements, all completed forms and send them to the address of the Information and Image Center.

From this point the verification procedure begins, which on average takes 2-3 weeks.

Diploma evaluation by World Education Services (WES)

To complete the akedemic record request forms you must provide your registration number on the WES website. This means that you will simultaneously go through the profile registration process on their site. For this:

1. Create a profile on the WES website through which you will submit the diploma evaluation application. A separate account is created for each person.

If you changed your surname, you need to create the account under the surname that is indicated in your passport.

2. Select country – Canada, evaluation type – ECA Application for IRCC.
3. Fill in all requested information and specify an address in the profile where copies of your WES report will be sent.
4. Enter all details about the diplomas and supplements.
5. Then the system will show the cost of services – CA$220.
6. Choose the document delivery option from Canada. Regular mail delivery costs CA$10, courier delivery – CA$85.

The difference in delivery is not only in price. When sending by courier, notifications will be sent to the email specified in the profile and you will be able to track where the documents are.

7. On the next page you can review the list of documents required for submission and that ENIC independently forwards the documents for verification.

This procedure can be done at a regular translation agency. WES does not require a notarized translation. You must translate everything: the diploma and its supplement listing all subjects studied. If your surname has changed, you must prepare a document to be translated that confirms this fact (marriage/divorce certificate).

8. Final step – upload the scans with translations to your WES profile.

Diploma evaluation by World Education Services (WES)

As soon as WES evaluates the diploma, a notification will be sent to your email, and you will be able to download the electronic version of the report. The advantage of the electronic version is that it can be used for your immigration purposes. The diploma evaluation is valid for 5 years.
