There are several grounds for obtaining a national D-type visa.
For example, your spouse is a citizen of Ukraine. Based on the marriage certificate, you are entitled to a temporary residence permit.
The following documents are required to obtain a D visa:
- original and notarized copy of the marriage certificate;
- a copy of the Ukrainian passport of your spouse.
- Consultation regarding obtaining Ukrainian citizenship
- Choosing the appropriate basis
- Preparation of document packages for obtaining citizenship
- Assistance at all stages of obtaining Ukrainian citizenship
The primary document for obtaining a D-type visa on the basis of employment is a work permit.
Not all organizations in Ukraine require obtaining a work permit. In some companies it may be an internal ID card or an employment contract with you. In addition to the original permit and its notarized copy, a visa application requires an invitation from a legal entity – the employer in Ukraine. The document should be written on the company’s letterhead, signed by the director and sealed with the company stamp. It is also useful to attach copies of the registration documents of the Ukrainian company – the employer.
The main criterion for obtaining the visa is the presence of an invitation from a volunteer organization. Copies of the organization’s documents, certified with the organization’s stamp and the director’s signature, should be attached to the invitation.
The invitation should indicate:
- your details,
- the organization’s details,
- the visa period,
- information about the specific volunteer activities for which you are invited to Ukraine.
This type of D visa attracts the most interest. The basis for obtaining it is a copy of the decision to grant you permission to immigrate to Ukraine. A D visa is required in this case if you received such permission abroad rather than in Ukraine. This visa is issued for entry into Ukraine for the purpose of obtaining permanent residence.
D Visa on the Basis of Study
This visa is of interest to students. To obtain it, you must provide documents from the university – an invitation for study (internship) that is registered and certified in accordance with the requirements of the Ukrainian Ministry of Education.
Who Needs D-Type Visas
All citizens, except those of countries that have international agreements with Ukraine stating that this visa is not required (Russian Federation, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Georgia and other countries).
Processing Time
The standard processing time for documents is from 5 to 10 working days. In some cases, the visa can be issued the same day. It all depends on the embassy’s workload. The fee for issuing a D visa ranges from $65 to $130, unless otherwise specified by international agreements.
Where to Obtain a D Visa
A D-type visa can be obtained at the Ukrainian embassy or visa center in your country of residence. It is possible to obtain it in another country if permitted by Ukrainian law (for citizens of certain countries, obtaining a visa in another country is possible only if they have a residence permit in that country).
