New changes concerning the crediting of currency to current accounts have come into force

зачисление валютыThe National Bank of Ukraine has established a procedure according to which funds in foreign currency must be credited to individuals’ current accounts within Ukraine.

Resolution No. 365 of 16.09.2013 “On the Procedure for the Receipt of Funds in Foreign Currency to Current Accounts of Individuals within Ukraine” introduced new changes. From now on, foreign currency within Ukraine may be credited to an individual’s current account only to the owner of that account, namely:

  • by transfer from another personal account;
  • by a deposit made personally by the account owner.

Deposit of foreign currency by an individual non-resident is possible if documents that can confirm its origin are provided.

Operations to which the requirements of the resolution do not apply:

  • Ukrainian domestic government bonds (OVGZ) and treasury obligations of Ukraine;
  • crediting of interest on the balance of a deposit or current account;
  • gift agreements;
  • foreign currency received as inheritance;
  • conversion, exchange and purchase-sale of foreign currency in cases established by legislation and the regulatory legal acts of the NBU;
  • return of funds in case of an erroneous transfer.
