As is known, citizens of Ukraine who deal with vehicles, i.e. work as drivers, must constantly remain attentive and focused on the road, without any health complaints. Poor well-being or the health condition of a driver can lead to horrific consequences, up to a fatal outcome. That is why, before obtaining a driving license or starting work, according to the “Regulation on the medical examination of driver candidates and drivers of vehicles” dated 31.01.2013, a driver is required to undergo a medical examination, the successful result of which will be a document called a medical certificate.

Form of the medical certificate for drivers

The driver’s medical certificate (form 083/o) is a very important document without which no one will allow you to operate a vehicle. In other words, you will need to obtain a driver’s medical certificate in the following cases:

• to obtain permission for driving lessons, without which you will not be able to take the final exam and receive a license;
• for re-issuance of a driving license or its replacement with a new one if the old document was lost or damaged;
• to make changes to the driving document;
• to carry out a scheduled technical inspection of your car;
• when receiving a request from work to undergo a periodic medical examination (for drivers or cargo carriers);
• in other cases, for example, for drivers who became participants in a traffic accident, etc.

In addition, drivers are required to undergo a periodic medical examination as follows:

• up to 55 years old – once every ten years;
• older than 55 up to and including 75 years – once every three years;
• older than 75 years – once a year.

How to get a medical certificate

Many in Ukraine who are encountering the medical examination and registration of the form 083/o certificate for the first time often ask where to get a medical certificate, how to obtain it, and whether it is possible to buy a driver’s certificate.

You can obtain a medical certificate for drivers:

• at the polyclinic at your place of residence;
• at a private medical institution;

As mentioned earlier, a medical certificate for drivers issued at a public clinic is a useless waste of time, effort and money.
