According to Ukrainian legislation, representatives of many professions are required to obtain a narcologist certificate (form 140/o), especially those who need high concentration and resistance to stress to perform specific job duties. A narcologist certificate confirms that a person has no problems with drugs or alcohol.

Who needs the certificate?

According to the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine «On improving the system of preventive anti-alcohol and anti-drug measures and mandatory preventive narcological examinations», undergoing a medical examination by a narcologist is a mandatory procedure for citizens in the professions listed in Resolution No. 1238. According to this resolution, a narcologist certificate will be required for:

• workers who handle certain types of substances: methanol, benzene, saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon substances;
• workers whose work is related to the use of explosive substances;
• workers whose job directly involves carrying firearms;
• employees of pharmaceutical enterprises;
• medical workers;
• employees in the fire service, gas rescue service;
• drivers, including citizens applying for driver’s licenses;
• aviation personnel;
• civil servants;
• persons in other equally important professions.
