Document retrieval is obtaining some official document or its duplicate (re-obtaining).
The need to retrieve a document may arise in a variety of situations, for example:
- government authorities of many countries may not accept Soviet-style documents;
- for affixing the “Apostille” stamp
- in case of loss or damage of the existing original;
- to obtain a document with a current date of issue;
- in some cases it is cheaper and faster to obtain a duplicate of the document than to certify a copy of the original.
